First, do no harm...

Screening is a huge privilege. You can change people's lives, so it's critical that it is done well. Before you begin your screening journey, it's important that you feel prepared. You can protect the children, young people and families you will be working with, as well as yourself, by actioning these three steps below before you start:

Executive Function

Screen for social and economic risk factors; and difficulties with working memory; impulsivity and shift. A skillset which enables us to manipulate information and problem-solve, manage attention and respond flexibly to different situations.

Social, Emotional, Mental Health

Screen for potential difficulties with self-efficacy, wellbeing and maths anxiety; as well as considering the presence of trauma, anxiety and avoidance in some of the more challenging behaviours we see in children and young people.
